FORGE summer 2020

During the summer, I was selected to be an apprentice at Boston University's Forge Design Labs. Over this 8 week internship, I learned how to use Procreate, Illustrator, and Figma while designing a logo for a coding language used by a research group on campus.

01

First Iteration

After the first client meeting, we were told that gradients were not vectorizable so we cannot include them in the logo. There was already a language with a microchip so we were told to avoid that so that their users do not get confused. Finally, we were asked to include "LFR", use more colors, be less abstract, and include a more dynamic fluid component.

02

Second Iteration

After our second client meeting, we understood that he wanted more equipment, less abstract objects, and more fluidity. To include these components, I added a more realistic pipette that went directly to the beaker in one mockup. In the other, I enhanced the red connection and attached it to the beaker to portray the digital and realistic properties of this coding language.

To give the client more variety, I chose various colors and elements that he had mentioned in past meetings. He really emphasized the science and animation aspect of the language.

Final Product

After our final client meeting, we were able to combine various components of our previous designs to create the final product using the feedback we were given.
